Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has called for a shift in the delivery of public services, urging government institutions to prioritize citizens’ needs and experiences.
Speaking at the launch of “Citizen Experience: A Reset for Superior Public and Civil Service Delivery,” co-authored by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah and Professor Robert E. Hinson, the Vice President said public sector reforms must go beyond policies and be reflected in the daily conduct of public officials.
She stressed that government services must be designed around the convenience of citizens rather than institutional processes, arguing that the quality of interactions between frontline public servants and citizens plays a critical role in building trust in state institutions.
According to Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, the success of the Reset Agenda will depend on the commitment of policymakers, public servants, and institutions to embrace reforms that make government more accessible, efficient, fair, and responsive.
She described the book as a timely contribution to discussions on improving public sector performance and ensuring that citizens remain at the centre of governance.
