Deputy Attorney-General, Justice Srem Sai, says law enforcement officers have arrested Mr Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba at the Accra International Airport.
According to him, Mr Aludiba, who is currently standing trial for stealing and causing financial loss to the state, had been granted permission by the High Court to travel to the United Kingdom for a few days.
Justice Srem Sai explained that the arrest followed an alleged attempt by the accused to use false means to gain access to funds in his frozen account held at Republic Bank on Thursday, an act which prompted swift security intervention.
He noted that the development raises serious concerns, especially given that the accused was on temporary court-approved travel leave at the time of the incident.
The Deputy Attorney-General further disclosed that the Attorney-General’s Department will, on Monday, apply for a review of the court order that granted Mr Aludiba permission to travel outside the country, in light of the latest developments.
