A gruesome discovery in the Ekumfi District of the Central Region has left residents in shock after the mutilated body of an unidentified man was found dumped between Ekumfi Eyisam and Ekumfi Techiman.
The victim, believed to be in his thirties, was found with several vital organs, including the heart, liver, intestines, stomach, ribs, and eyes, missing. The extent of the mutilation has made identification difficult, deepening anxiety within the community.
Assemblyman for the Obontser Electoral Area, Abdul Razak, said he received a distress call around 6:25 a.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2026, alerting him to the discovery. Speaking to the media, he described the scene as disturbing and suggested the killing may not have occurred at the location where the body was found.
“The body was badly damaged, making identification impossible. I suspect it was killed elsewhere and dumped here,” he said.
The incident has sparked widespread fear among residents, with many suspecting ritual-related motives, a concern often raised in similar cases across parts of Ghana. Others, however, have speculated about the possibility of a fatal accident, though the condition of the body points strongly to foul play.
Residents have urged families with missing relatives to come forward, as authorities work to identify the victim.
Meanwhile, the remains have been transported to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy and preservation. The Ekumfi District Police have launched a full investigation into the case, but no arrests have been made so far.
Assemblyman Razak has also appealed to the public to assist with information that could aid the investigation or help identify the deceased.
