
US President Donald Trump has threatened to bring “death, fire, and fury” to Iran if it continues to interfere with oil exports in the Strait of Hormuz.
His comments on social media came hours after he asserted that the war was “very far ahead of schedule” and “very complete, pretty much”.
The price of oil – which had surged past $100 a barrel on Monday – has dipped closer to $90 since his remarks.
But Trump lacked clarity, even when pushed for detail, says our correspondent Anthony Zurcher – with the president threatening to hit Iran “twenty times harder” if they blocked the Strait.
