Police have arrested a 26-year-old man and his wife, 24 at Awutu Bontrase in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region for allegedly beheading their three-day-old baby boy, chopping off both hands, and dumping the body on a refuse dump.
According to eyewitnesses the body was spotted on the refuse dump by the youth of the area, triggering them to commence a search. Upon the search, they perceived that Abena Benewa, the wife gave birth at home.
The traditional birth attendant told her the baby was dead, a preparation was underway to bury the body but the father of the baby Bright Ashiao took the body that he would bury it on his own.
Further interrogation revealed that Bright Ashiao buried the baby at the same location where the body was found.
The body has been conveyed and deposited at the morgue while the couples are currently in police custody assisting investigations and would appear before the court in no time.
