Tragic multi-vehicle collision on Accra’s N1 near Fiesta Royale Hotel claims two lives, injures 19 — GNFS leads rescue and emergency response

A tragic multi-vehicle accident on the N1 near the Fiesta Royale Hotel in Accra claimed two lives and left 19 others injured on Monday, February 23, 2026. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) received the distress call at 7:58 p.m. and reached the scene 16 minutes later, swiftly coordinating rescue efforts.

The collision involved a Kia motor truck (GG 1304-18), a Sprinter Bus (GX 8325-13), and a Volvo trailer (GT 7856-20). Firefighters worked diligently to extricate trapped victims and provide emergency care before transporting the injured to Achimota Hospital and the 37 Military Hospital.

In collaboration with other emergency teams, the GNFS secured the area, managed traffic, and ensured no further incidents occurred while clearing the wreckage. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.

The Ghana National Fire Service expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a full recovery to those injured. Drivers are reminded to exercise caution, adhere to traffic rules, and prioritize road safety at all times.
