Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya West, Gizela Agbotui Tetteh, has assured the public that the brutal assault of a student of Obrachire Senior High Technical School (OSTECH) will be fully investigated.
In a statement shared on her Facebook page, the MP said, “I wish to assure the school authorities, parents, students, and the general public that the Director General of the Ghana Education Service has called the authorities and is investigating the matter.”
She added, “I have engaged the DG of Ghana Education Service, our DCE of Awutu Senya District, the District Education Office, the headmistress of OSTECH, and some senior citizens.”
The incident occurred during an annual sporting event in Agona Swedru, where students of Obrachire Senior High Technical School and the Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS) reportedly clashed.
A viral video shows a student of OSTECH being violently assaulted. The victim has since been hospitalised and is reported to be in stable condition.
The Ghana Education Service has begun inquiries into the matter, while the Ghana Police Service Central Regional Command has also launched an investigation.
“Investigations into the incident are ongoing and further developments will be communicated in due course,” a statement from the Command said.
