
A yet-to-be identified mother has dumped a day-old baby in a bush near a private school at Bronyibima Estate near Elmina in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality of the Central Region.
According to eyewitnesses, the baby was discovered by a local rabbit farmer at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17,2026.

The farmer, who was en route to collect feed for his animals, initially heard cries prompting him to investigated the source of the sound and was shocked to find a newborn wrapped in a cloth and placed inside a polythene bag. The farmer immediately raised an alarm, drawing the attention of nearby residents
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, residents ensured the baby was swiftly taken to the Bronyibima Hospital for immediate medical attention. Health professionals at the facility said the baby is in a stable condition.
Meanwhile, the Social Welfare Department of the KEEA Municipality has since taken the custody of the baby. The incident has been reported to the police for further investigation.
