Akufo-Addo Meets NPP Presidential Aspirants, Urges Unity Ahead of Primaries

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has hosted a breakfast meeting with the five presidential aspirants of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at his private residence in Nima, Accra, as part of efforts to promote unity and a peaceful campaign ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.

The meeting, held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, was aimed at fostering camaraderie and reaffirming the importance of a united NPP as the party prepares for the 2028 general elections.

In his remarks, former President Akufo-Addo expressed deep gratitude to the aspirants for taking time off their campaign schedules to attend the meeting, describing their presence as a reflection of their shared commitment to the collective good and the future of the party.

He noted that he holds each of the aspirants in high regard, citing their merit and significant contributions to both the NPP and the nation. The former President encouraged them to conduct their campaigns in a “healthy, issue-based manner” focused on presenting their visions to delegates rather than engaging in divisive politics.

Akufo-Addo reiterated that his primary commitment is to the unity and credibility of the NPP’s internal processes, adding that a united and well-organised party will be better positioned to secure victory in the 2028 polls.

In a show of solidarity, all five aspirants reportedly pledged to maintain a clean campaign atmosphere and to support the eventual winner of the primaries. They also assured the former President of their readiness to work collectively to uphold party unity after the internal contest.

The former President concluded by commending the aspirants for their positive engagement and urged the NPP leadership to ensure a transparent and credible process that strengthens the party after the presidential primaries.
