Residents of Tweapease Halt DCE’s Tour, Demand Immediate Fix of Deplorable Road

Residents of Tweapease in the Assin North District disrupted a tour by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Sylvester Amakye Nyarkoh, demanding urgent repairs to the deteriorating Assin Tweapease-Breku road.

The residents, mostly cocoa farmers, said the poor state of the road has made it nearly impassable, damaging vehicles, raising transport costs, and claiming lives. They lamented that the situation has crippled their livelihoods by making it difficult to transport cocoa and other produce to market.

They appealed to their Member of Parliament, James Gyakye Quayson, to intervene, while commending the DCE, Sylvester Amakye Nyarkoh, for visiting but insisting that “promises alone are no longer enough.”

Responding to their concerns, the DCE assured the community that the road has been prioritized under the Assembly’s development plan and will be rehabilitated through the government’s 24-hour economy initiative to boost trade and local productivity.

He added that the project’s completion will allow traders to sell directly in Breku instead of traveling to Assin Fosu, enhancing economic activity in the area. “Next week, you will see the contractor on site,” the DCE pledged.

Residents, however, remain cautiously optimistic, hoping this promise finally leads to lasting relief.
