Ghana’s political landscape has taken a new turn as Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen officially rebrands his Movement for Change into the United Party (UP Plus), a move he says marks the beginning of a new era of credible, transparent, and accountable leadership.
Speaking at the official unveiling ceremony in Accra, Mr. Kyerematen described the transformation as “a new dawn for Ghanaian politics,” built on the principles of unity, competence, and integrity.
“This new dawn will drive economic transformation, create jobs, and promote prosperity,” he stated. “It will also strengthen national unity, promote transparency, and introduce a zero-tolerance policy for corruption.”
Party Chairman Abubakar Saddique Boniface explained that the new identity reflects a renewed commitment to transformative governance and inclusive leadership.
“UP Plus is not just another political party; it is a movement that values competence, vision, and integrity,” he said. “Our mission is to bring real change to governance and restore faith in political leadership.”
The United Party (UP Plus), which pays homage to a name of historical importance in Ghana’s political tradition, officially received its registration certificate from the Electoral Commission on October 3, 2025.
With this milestone, the party positions itself as a credible alternative in Ghana’s political space, promising to redefine leadership through innovation, accountability, and a unifying national vision.
