The National Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on all presidential aspirants, their campaign teams, and party supporters to conduct themselves responsibly as the party prepares for its upcoming presidential primaries.
In a statement dated October 9, 2025, the Council announced that an Ad Hoc Committee constituted to oversee the conduct of the presidential campaigns has officially commenced its work. The committee is tasked with monitoring the comments, actions, and public engagements of aspirants and their representatives to ensure a peaceful, respectful, and issue-based campaign that reflects the values and traditions of the party.
The Council urged members, supporters, and the general public to report any utterance, conduct, or social media post by aspirants or campaign team members that is “offensive, divisive, or capable of inciting disunity” within the party. Such reports, the statement said, should be submitted to the Committee with credible evidence, either in writing or through direct communication via phone or WhatsApp.
Members may contact Ing. Dr. Kwasi Abeasi, Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee, at 0544 322 622, or Mr. Mark Opoku, Secretary to the Committee, at 0245 067 615, for such matters.
The Council also reminded all aspirants to avoid inflammatory statements and actions before, during, and after the primaries, scheduled for January 31, 2026. It emphasized that unity and discipline remain critical for ensuring a strong and peaceful party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
“Let us all work together in the spirit of discipline, respect, and solidarity to ensure a peaceful and united NPP ready for victory in 2028,” the statement concluded.
