Residents of the Techiman North District in the Bono East Region may soon see an end to their long-standing struggle with poor road networks, as their Member of Parliament, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, is in talks with the Minister for Roads and Highways to have the roads fixed.
This was disclosed by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Adom Kwabena Johnson, during the Public Accounts Committee sitting on Wednesday, October 08, 2025.
The Techiman North District, noted for its strong contribution to Ghana’s agricultural sector, producing tomatoes, yams, garden eggs, and other crops, has for years faced challenges transporting farm produce to market centers due to deplorable road conditions. Many of these crops reportedly rot on farms before reaching buyers.
“We are aware of the difficulties farmers and traders face because of the bad roads,” Mr. Johnson said. “The MP is already in serious discussions with the Roads Minister, and we are hopeful that work will soon begin to make the roads motorable.”
He further revealed that, in the meantime, a drip machine will be deployed to smooth sections of the affected roads to ease transportation until full rehabilitation begins.
On the assembly’s financial performance, the DCE said that as of September, nine hundred and fifty-three thousand and sixty-four Ghana cedis (₵953,064) in internally generated funds had been collected, with a target of ₵1.4 million by the end of the year.
“We have concrete measures in place to meet our revenue target,” Mr. Johnson assured the Committee.
