Residents of Kasoa-Zongo in the Awutu Senya East Municipality were thrown into shock after discovering the decomposing body of a 90-year-old man, identified as Alhaji Nurudeen San-Yariga, in his home.
According to residents, a strong stench had filled the area for days, which many assumed came from a dead animal. It was only after a woman who regularly delivered food to the nonagenarian forced open his door that the body was found.

Reports indicate that the body was in an advanced state of decomposition, with flies swarming the room. Officers from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) retrieved the body and ensured it was buried in line with Islamic customs.
The cause of death is yet to be determined, but officials from the Environmental Health Department and NADMO have since fumigated the area to prevent any possible health risks.
