Bono NPP Chairman Abronye Arrested Amid Asylum Bid

The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, has been arrested by the police, though the exact reasons for his arrest remain unclear.

Abronye, widely recognized for his outspoken political views, made headlines last week after formally applying for political asylum in eight countries, including Côte d’Ivoire, the United States, France, Italy, Canada, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

In his asylum request, he alleged consistent and escalating political persecution, threats to his life, and systemic abuse of state security powers by the current Government as the basis for seeking international protection.

Meanwhile, heavily armed police officers reportedly searched the residence of former NPP Youth Organiser, Moses Abor, on Sunday in connection with the case but did not find Abronye there.
