Ashaiman Man Jailed 10 Years for Robbery After Facebook Encounter

The Ashaiman Circuit Court has sentenced Freeman Kudjo, a resident of Zenu, to 10 years and three months in prison with hard labour for assaulting and robbing a woman of her mobile phones.

According to the prosecution, the complainant, who lives at East Legon, met Kudjo on Facebook, where he proposed friendship. On August 26, 2025, he invited her to meet him at Community 22 Estate in Ashaiman.

After a brief interaction, the two went for a walk during which Kudjo suddenly attacked her, grabbing her by the neck and pressing her against a wall. He forcibly searched her bag and stole an iPhone XR and a Vivo phone, together valued at GH¢4,500.

The victim’s cries for help drew the attention of bystanders, who quickly apprehended Kudjo and handed him over to the Community 22 Police. A search during his arrest led to the recovery of the stolen phones.

Presiding Judge Her Honour Priscilla Sophia Yeboah convicted Kudjo on a charge of robbery and handed down the custodial sentence.
