Farmers Petition Nursing Council to Sanction GRNMA General Secretary Over Offensive Remarks

The Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen (GNAFF) has petitioned the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) to discipline Dr. David Tenkorang Twum, General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), over what they describe as derogatory remarks against the Minister of Health and farmers across the country.

In a petition dated August 22, 2025, GNAFF said Dr. Tenkorang, during an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, made “unprovoked and offensive” comments that were unbecoming of a professional leader.

The group noted that despite calls for him to retract the statements and apologize within 24 hours, he has failed to do so.

GNAFF argued that his conduct undermines the integrity of the nursing profession and disrespects farmers and fishermen, whom they described as the backbone of Ghana’s economy.

They are therefore urging the NMC to investigate the matter, apply the appropriate sanctions under its code of ethics, and compel Dr. Tenkorang to issue a public apology.
