President John Dramani Mahama has formally rolled out the 24‑Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme, now named the “24‑H Plus Agenda”. In his address on July 2 in Accra, he described it as “more than a policy initiative; it is a national reset, a bold strategic shift to unlock our country’s full productive potential.

The President emphasized the project’s goals, stating: “We have moved from slogan to strategy today… This launch is not the end, but it is the beginning of a massive national mobilisation.” He clarified that the agenda is not simply about working longer: “The 24H+ agenda is not simply about extending working hours. It is about unleashing productivity and expanding opportunity.”

Mahama added that the policy places the private sector at the forefront: “The private sector will lead the 24‑Hour Plus programme. Government will facilitate and not dominate.” He assured that public funds will be “catalytic”, providing seed capital but avoiding control over operations.
Under the comprehensive initiative, six core sub-programmes—Grow 24, Make 24, Build 24, Show 24, Connect 24, and Fund 24 will drive value-chain development.
Presidential advisor Goosie Tanoh confirmed the agenda is moving into full implementation, with nearly 50 projects categorized across commercial, institutional, and social sectors, and concept notes ready for the first 20.

This launch marks a pivotal shift—from aspiration to action—aimed at driving productivity, fostering private-sector-led growth, and boosting exports through coordinated, multi-sectoral engagement.
