President John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians that his government is determined to tackle the country’s economic challenges and restore stability before the end of his term.

Speaking during his first State of the Nation Address in his second term on Thursday, February 27, Mahama acknowledged the difficult economic situation but expressed confidence in his administration’s ability to turn things around.

“I, John Dramani Mahama, will fix the economic crisis confronting our country and reset it on a path of growth and prosperity,” he declared.

The president admitted that Ghana’s current state is troubling, with many citizens experiencing severe economic hardships. “The state of the nation is not good. Our economy is in crisis, and the people of Ghana are suffering unprecedented hardships,” he stated. However, he assured the nation that his focus remains on finding solutions rather than assigning blame.

“It is not my style to lament and shift blame. I am therefore not here to lament, even though there is much to lament about,” he added.

Highlighting his record in addressing national challenges, Mahama cited the resolution of the country’s power crisis as proof of his ability to deliver on promises. “I promised to fix ‘dumsor,’ and I fixed it. There was no power rationing or load management in Ghana,” he reminded the public.

His address reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to economic recovery and national development, emphasizing policies aimed at steering the country towards financial stability and sustainable growth.
