President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr. Ransford Anertey Abbey as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) as of January 21, 2025.
Dr. Abbey, a seasoned media professional and football administrator, is expected to bring his extensive experience to the cocoa sector.
Prior to this appointment, he served in various capacities within the media industry and held significant roles in the Ghanaian football administration.
The appointment comes at a critical time for COCOBOD, as the organization seeks to implement reforms aimed at boosting cocoa production and ensuring sustainable livelihoods for farmers.
Stakeholders in the cocoa industry have expressed optimism that Dr. Abbey’s leadership will drive the necessary changes to enhance the sector’s performance.
Dr. Abbey succeeds Joseph Boahen Aidoo, who resigned from the position on January 18, 2025.
